Pearland is largely served by the Alvin Independent School District. A small area on the far west side is served by the Fort Bend Independent School District. Shadow Creek High School, the district’s third comprehensive high school, is on the corner of Broadway and Kirby near Pearland Town Center.

The Town Center of Pearland is a very popular area and is full of retail centers, shopping, and entertainment venues making it a popular choice for active families. Town Center has direct access to Broadway/FM 518, Texas 288 and the Sam Houston Parkway which can shorten drive times to employment centers such as the Texas Medical Center, Central Houston and southwest Houston.

Communities in Pearland, Texas

Pearland is home to Shadow Creek Ranch, the area’s largest master-planned community, Shadow Creek Ranch Business Center, Shadow Creek Ranch Square, the Medical Center District and the Lower Kirby District. Several hotels, a variety of restaurants, sports parks, churches, the Westside Library, and The Pearl Theater. Discovery at Shadow Creek Ranch Apartments are a short walk to major destinations in the Town Center area.

In 1857 the first group of settlers to arrive in north Brazoria County settled along Chocolate Bayou. They named the settlement Pomona from the Latin name Pomum, meaning “Fruit”.  Today, Pomona is the first LiveSmart community to be developed by Hillwood Communities in the Houston-area. Russell Bynum, general manager of the Houston Region, says top amenities in Houston include parks and green spaces, lakes and ponds, resort-style pools, trail systems, village centers, exercise rooms, and neighborhood schools. Activity centers where newcomers can meet their neighbors.

“We believe amenities foster a stronger sense of community because they bring neighbors together,” Bynum said. “Making a connection is important when it comes to feeling at home.”

A fishing camp and pier, natural scape playground, amenity center, resort pools, walking trails and sports fields are part of Pomona’s master plan. Pomona residents have short drives to retail, health care, sporting events and employment centers along FM 518 in Pearland. Pomona Elementary opened this fall. Older students are zoned to Shadow Creek Ranch High School. In addition, the Texas Medical Center is less than 20 miles from Pomona via Texas 288. Highland Homes, David Weekley Homes, Coventry Homes, Plantation Homes, Perry Homes, and Trendmaker Homes model homes are open daily.

One of the newest communities in Pearland is a 315-acre lakeside community on Broadway/FM 518 called Southlake. The newly opened Park at Southlake features playgrounds and a pool complex. Children attend schools within the award-winning Alvin ISD and Fort Bend ISD.
