As the nation rebounds from COVID-19, Houston Community College has launched a free, fast-track training program to help get people back on their feet and into steady jobs.

The short-term program is the brainchild of HCC Southwest President Madeline Burillo-Hopkins, who recently was named HCC vice president for Workforce to lead systemwide workforce coordination and program access.

“Many people have lost jobs and are struggling to stay afloat because of the pandemic,” she said. “We invite students to come back to upskill, reskill and retrain in high-demand skill areas so that can get back to work. Come back and let us help you with that process.”

The programs provide training in occupations in areas such as residential construction-related trades, information technology, welding and pipefitting, manufacturing, supply chain and transportation, health-related careers, and more.
