Students come first in Fort Bend ISD, and always will.

Part of my philosophy as a superintendent is something I have believed from my days as a first-grade teacher: that the goal of our work is to see the light of learning turn on in a child. A love of learning is something our children can carry with them throughout their entire  lives, and it starts in our classrooms.

In FBISD, we have a strong foundation and legacy of student academic success and achievement in athletics, fine arts and extracurricular activities. Our staff works diligently to support our students, teachers and families, helping them to create thriving learning environments. Through a strong network of business and community partnerships, we have an established culture of excellence that brings our mission and vision to life – to inspire and equip our students for futures beyond their imaginations.

As a parent and educator, I know the challenges of the past few years have taken a toll on our students- inclusive of their academic progress, social, emotional and mental well-being. In FBISD, we believe in caring for the whole child by providing supports to promote physical, mental and nutritional health. We ensure that students have a high-quality education to set their course for the future, and the opportunity to grow into contributing citizens of the local community and the world.

Through the FBISD Profile of a Graduate, we cultivate traits in our students that will help them regardless of what career path they choose. We aim for every student to graduate from Fort Bend ISD with a quality education, strong character, and the ability to be:

  • equipped with skills for life
  • a servant leadership
  • an effective communicator
  • a critical thinker
  • a compassionate citizen
  • a collaborative team member
  • a life-long learner

One of my goals as superintendent is to ensure that students have safe learning spaces in which to flourish. We have made great strides in this area through the construction of new, innovative schools and many other projects made possible by our 2018 Bond Program. In addition to providing the best facilities we can for our students, I believe it is also crucial for us to nurture a culture of kindness and compassion across our District. When we instill kindness in our students and model it for them, we prepare them to contribute to the greater good of our society.

I encourage you to consider Fort Bend ISD. As the flagship District in the County, I am excited about what lies ahead. It is my honor to serve as Superintendent and I look forward to partnering with you to ensure FBISD remains one of the best school districts in the nation.

Dr. Christie Whitbeck, Fort Bend ISD Superintendent
