  • The Clear Creek Independent School District was formed in 1948 through consolidation of the schools in League City, Seabrook, Webster and Kemah. At the time the schools were unified, there were fewer than 1,000 students in four schools. Clear Creek ISD has grown to more than 36,000 students in 38 schools on 36 campuses as of August 2006. All indicators point to a continuing population increase in the school district well into the future. Construction continues on more facilities to meet the needs of the 105-square mile school district, which also includes parts of League City, Friendswood, and Houston.
Clear Creek ISD is now the 27th largest of the state’s 1,037 districts. Student test scores are routinely well above the state average. Approximately 36 percent of the faculty members have at least a master’s degree. More than 80 percent of graduating seniors plan to attend college. In 2006, seniors received almost $13 million in scholarship offers from colleges and universities across the nation. The district earned a Recognized status for the tenth time from the Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings System in 2007. Recognized rating is the highest designation earned to date by any school district with more than 25,000 students. Clear Creek ISD is ranked as the highest performing, large school district in Texas.

Because Clear Creek ISD serves the NASA/Johnson Space Center and the related aeronautical industry, there is a strong interest in math and science. Clear Creek ISD hosts one of the state’s most extensive district science fairs and students consistently take top honors at city, state and national competitions. Each year more than 8,000 students enter the Science Fair from schools throughout the district. Clear Creek ISD ranks consistently among the largest winners at the Annual Science Engineering Fair of Houston.

The district is equally strong in fine arts and is known for top quality athletic programs. These programs provide opportunities for students to participate in all skill levels. School trophy cases attest to the outstanding performance of student athletes and numerous championships won in young men’s and women’s sports. Support from community and outstanding parent teacher association volunteers and booster clubs is excellent. These organizations provide an extra element of school pride and productivity on campus.

The Clear Creek Education Foundation was established in 1992 to enhance and enrich the education of students through projects supported with non-tax funds. Contributions come from corporations and individuals. Members of the Foundation reflect the outstanding community and business support that has helped to make Clear Creek ISD an extraordinary district.

The heart of any school district is the people-and the Clear Creek Independent School District takes great pride in the highly qualified Board of Trustees, administration, faculty and staff, all of whom are dedicated to providing the best possible educational environment for all students. They also reflect the high standards of parent and community interest and involvement that strengthen the school district.
