During the 2017-2018 school year, HCC served more than 114,000 unduplicated students through its 15 Centers of Excellence both on campus and online. HCC is No. 1 among all community colleges in providing associate degrees to minorities and No. 1 in educating international students, with more than 10 percent of its student population from outside the U.S.

The largest of six regional colleges in the Houston Community College system, HCC Southwest College offers an array of programs to meet the diverse needs of today’s students of all backgrounds and age groups. HCC Southwest College includes the West Loop campus and Gulfton center, both located near the Galleria area; the Brays Oaks campus serving the Brays Oaks area in southwest Houston just inside Beltway 8; and the Stafford and Missouri City campuses serving the surrounding Fort Bend communities and beyond.

With more than 40 foreign countries represented in its student body, the college’s Intensive English and English as a Second Language courses help international students make a smooth transition to their studies.

The Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence is housed at the  57,000-square-foot Stafford Workforce Building at 13622 Stafford Road, and offers the following career-focused programs:

Stafford Campus

The HCC Stafford complex comprises the Learning Hub, the Scarcella Science and Technology Center, HCC Southwest College Fine Arts Center, and the Workforce Building, which is the headquarters for the HCC Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence.

The Stafford campus offers a broad array of courses and programs in advanced manufacturing; information technology; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); fine arts; psychology; liberal arts; humanities; economics; government; sociology; communications; history; business; anthropology; accounting; education; and more.

The 54,000-square-foot Workforce Building provides training for high-growth, advanced manufacturing trades, including welding, pipefitting and robotics. The building includes industry laboratories, administrative space, conference rooms and a makerspace with 3D printers, computer numerical control machines, and woodworking and other technology-infused machine tools.

In March 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor and HCC formed a partnership that established HCC as a Registered Apprenticeship Center. By working directly with employers, the Registered Apprenticeship Center at the HCC Stafford Campus Workforce Building allows the college to be better positioned to help build a strong workforce for the industry. There are only two U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Centers in the region and HCC is the only one offering manufacturing apprenticeships.

Missouri City Campus

The Missouri City campus offers prerequisite courses for numerous professional health career programs.  It also offers associate degrees in arts, science and applied science.  These core academic courses are transferable to all four-year universities in Texas.

The 69,000-square-foot building at 1600 Texas Parkway in Missouri City houses state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, exhibition space, conference rooms and a student lounge. The center provides a full range of student services including on-site academic advising, admissions assistance and financial aid guidance.

Brays Oaks Campus

The Brays Oaks campus at 8855 West Bellfort offers programs for both younger and older students including credit courses and continuing education and adult education classes to upgrade skills for better careers. The campus offers courses in information technology, business and health.

Gulfton Center

The Gulfton Center at 5407 Gulfton Road offers classes in various levels of English learning including English as a Second Language (ESL).
