Fort Bend Christian Academy celebrated the dedication of the Lower and Middle School Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) Lab made possible by a generous donation from Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Adriana Polasek.

The STEAM Lab has a central purpose of teaching students about science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Led by Ms. Rebecca Morgan, STEAM Specialist, the Polasek STEAM Lab provides FBCA Lower and Middle School students with an innovative curriculum to stimulate their learning process. The STEAM Lab has various interactive features, allowing the students to learn hands-on. Inside the lab, students are encouraged to explore topics that they have never learned before and are interested in.

Ms. Morgan engages students through project-based learning, which takes relevant scenarios and allows the students to learn how to collaborate, problem solve, question their learning, question how they think, and not fear failure but merely see challenges as a step on the way to success. Additionally, project-based learning allows for huge degrees of differentiation so that every child can be met where they are in the learning continuum.

“We felt called to donate to the STEAM Lab because we are science lovers at heart, and we know the future for the next generations is learning about technology,” shared the Polaseks. We want to encourage, amuse, and expose the students to all things STEAM! We believe the STEAM experience will motivate them to learn and be successful.”

On this day, a vision three years in the making came to fruition. The STEAM Initiative is a vital part of FBCA’s strategic plan and allows the school to meet curricular and instructional goals.

“The FBCA Board of Trustees and the executive leadership team collaborated to dream up this space, to design the opportunity we wanted our students to have on a daily basis,” stated FBCA Head of School Joshua Gettys. “The Polasek STEAM Lab offers students the opportunity to be innovative, to be inclusive, and promotes creativity and the possibility for every student to pursue his or her passions.”

Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Adriana Polasek have three children who attend FBCA. They have always been active in the community and in the school. Fort Bend Christian Academy thanks them greatly for their contribution to the students, faculty, and families of the FBCA community.

Fort Bend Christian Academy is a private, college-preparatory school serving Pre-K through grade 12. FBCA is located in Sugar Land, Texas, one of the fastest growing and most diverse communities in the United States.
