  • As the second oldest private parochial school in Fort Bend County, Calvary Episcopal Preparatory has been educating students in the area since 1956, serving the communities of Richmond, Rosenberg, Pecan Grove, Greatwood, New Territory, Aliana, Waterside Estates, Cross Creek Ranch, Fulshear, Katy, and the FM359 corridor.

The Mission Statement of Calvary Episcopal Preparatory is not just a grouping of words: “Calvary Episcopal Preparatory provides superior education while inspiring Reverence for God, Respect for others, and Responsibility for self.” Reverence, Respect and Responsibility are the 3 R’s that are integrated in class assignments, relationships with teachers and classmates, and in the chapel experience. While outstanding academics are a trademark for Calvary’s reputation of excellence, their pride as a Christian school is how they treat each others and grow in the understanding of God’s expectations.
Calvary faculty and staff nurture the concept of “family,” and understand that for a child to be successful in today’s world, the home and school must form a partnership, respecting the important and distinctive role that each serves, yet recognizing the necessity to work toward common goals. Involved parents are vital to Calvary Episcopal Preparatory students’ success.

Calvary has found that children achieve success when the bar is set high. Consequently, students typically perform 2-5 grades above the national norm on the annual Stanford Achievement Tests.  Through effective communication, encouraging parent involvement through volunteerism and high expectations, students excel in and outside the classroom. Eighty-seven percent of our students achieve “Honor Roll” status each quarter.

Calvary educates the “whole child” knowing that a well-rounded educational experience includes hands-on learning. Students enjoy field trips, and activity-oriented lessons that are fast passed and accelerated. The Calvary experience includes Bible class, 3 day-a-week chapel, physical education, music/choir, theater arts, art, Spanish, library lessons, and computer instruction. Students are encouraged to express themselves and are offered opportunities in the visual and performing arts. Students may participate in a beginner band program as early as the 4th grade and progress to advanced band in middle school. Through the music department, students begin reading music and are exposed to Orff instruments, sign language, and hand bells. Each year the school produces secular musical programs as well as those tied to the liturgical seasonal calendar.

Calvary consistently wins “District” at the Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) academic meet, where students compete against other private schools in math, spelling, oratory, science, music, map skills, art and other contests.  Middle school athletics, which starts in grade 6, offers students an opportunity to be part of a team that values individual abilities and celebrates competition and sportsmanship. Calvary teams consistently win the West Houston Christian Athletic Conference (WHCAC) championships in football, volleyball, basketball, track, tennis and golf.

Calvary has an outstanding art program. Year after year Calvary students’ artwork wins high honors at the Fort Bend County Fair and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Calvary students have won Gold Medals and First Places, and consistently have the highest rated art in the Private Schools Category.
All students, regardless of the grade level, are taught Christian Character Education and the seven pillars of character: Reverence, Respect, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Additionally, service learning is a part of all grade levels, and all students participate in at least one service project that focuses on service to the community.

Calvary is proud of its accomplishments and looks forward to continued progress and growth.  To learn more about Calvary’s culture you can view their website, Facebook and most importantly you are always welcome for a tour.
