Some of West Houston’s most desirable and established neighborhoods are served by the Spring Branch ISD, which encompasses about 44 square miles of wooded suburbs and vibrant business districts located west of downtown Houston along the Katy Freeway. With an enrollment of more than 35,000 students, SBISD has 26 traditional elementary schools, 7 regular middle schools, 4 traditional high schools and 4 special campuses.

SBISD also operates two innovative and highly rated charter schools. Cornerstone Academy is a middle school, and Westchester Academy for International Studies is a middle and high school campus where students can pursue challenging International Baccalaureate program options in grades 7-12.
Spring Branch ISD follows a small neighborhood school concept where attendance areas have been established for each individual school. Students go to the schools from kindergarten through high school in the attendance area in which they live, and campus attendance zones rarely change.
About half of all SBISD campuses (18) are rated Recognized or Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency (TEA); SBISD is ranked an Acceptable School District by TEA.
