Moving to The Woodlands, Texas
The Woodlands is one of the best-selling master-planned communities in the country. It started in 1974 as a bedroom suburb of Houston, just 28 miles to the south, but has become a mecca for residents and corporations, with companies like Anadarko, Exxon, Mearsk Sealand and many others working and living among the tall pines, green belts, 129 parks, and many golf courses. The Woodlands is ten villages, with about 32,500 homes, ranging in style and price from the high $100s to more than $3 million; in addition, there are 11,000 multifamily units. The communities are linked by 190 miles of hike and bike trails. Each village has its own retail area with a grocery store, shops and conveniences.
At the heart of this bustling community is the Woodlands Waterway, a 1.4-mile long linear park that links the office buildings, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues of Woodlands Downtown. Take a water taxi or trolley to the 1.3 million square foot Woodlands Mall, Market Street or to a performance at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, one of the most popular outdoor amphitheaters in the world.
The Woodlands is served by three highly rated school districts: Conroe, Magnolia and Tomball ISD, along with several award-winning private schools. Also situated in The Woodlands are Lone Star College – Montgomery and many excellent healthcare campuses.
