Living in Spring, Texas
In 1838, Spring was a trading post beside Spring Creek. Over time, people moved into the area and began to raise sugar cane and cotton. As the city of Houston grew, the importance of the town of Spring diminished, but in 1980 the Old Town Spring Association began to promote the Old Town Spring Shopping District, and it is now a tourist attraction, comprised of historic homes, one-of-a-kind shops and quaint eateries.
Spring is ideally located with schools, restaurants, entertainment venues and medical facilities all close by. The Spring Independent School District serves the educational needs of area children. And providing a respite from the hectic urban world, the Spring Creek Greenway will connect up to 10,000 acres of forest along Spring Creek to preserve and restore this biologically diverse ecosystem. Major roadways including I-45 North, the Hardy Toll Road and Grand Parkway add to the area’s vitality. The new ExxonMobil campus is located right across I-45 from Spring, and this mega-development has had a huge and positive impact on growth in Spring.
