As one of the largest institutions of higher learning in the nation, Houston Community College (HCC) is a recognized leader in awarding academic degrees and workforce certifications.

Serving the Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston communities for over 40 years, HCC Southwest College continues to change and grow to support the communities it serves.

Academic courses are available for college students choosing to pursue a four-year degree, as well as dual-credit classes and early college high school programs for high school students. HCC specializes in providing workforce degrees and certificates that can be earned in as few as six months. The college is home to HCC’s Southwest Honors College for academically gifted students, and the VAST Academy for “differently abled” individuals seeking workforce certificates and academic advancement. Students also have access to sports, paid internships, student associations and lifelong learning for seniors.

The Greater Houston area is one of the leading manufacturing and health care regions in the United States. To prepare the area workforce, HCC established the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at its Stafford campus. The 57-thousand square foot Stafford Workforce Building is home to the HCC Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence and is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including 3D Printers, robotic arms, CNC mills and lathes machines, welding machines and more.

HCC offers more than 250 degree and certificate programs system wide, including Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Machining Technology, Welding, HVAC and Electrical which are taught at the new Stafford Workforce Building, with programs like Robotics soon to come.

In addition to manufacturing programs, Stafford offers art and graphic arts courses at the Fine Arts Building, science programs at the Scarcella Building, and a full range of academic and business courses at the Learning Hub Building.

The region is expanding, and Missouri City has recently been ranked as one of America’s 50 best cities in which to live. In order to train the workforce of tomorrow in high-demand careers within the Missouri City community, HCC established a large new facility, located at in the heart of Missouri City at 1600 Texas Parkway.

The Center for Entrepreneurship, Technology and Health at the Missouri City Center will offer core academic courses, as well as business administration and information technology classes, a variety of logistics courses, small business and entrepreneurial classes, medical assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), and prerequisite courses for the more than 20 professional health careers offered at HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences.
