Brain & Spine Center
The Brain & Spine Center is accredited by DNV as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and is the recipient of the American Stroke Association’s Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award. KMC is a leader in northeast Houston treating patients suffering from stroke, aneurysm and spinal injuries. Stroke is a major cause of death and disability, and patient outcomes depend on how quickly blood flow is restored to the brain. Treatment options for stroke include thrombolytic medications that aim to dissolve the clot, and interventional endovascular procedures (similar to a cardiac catheterization) to remove it. Successful stroke care requires early recognition, transporting the patient to a designated comprehensive stroke center, and early activation of a stroke team at the hospital. Time loss is brain loss.
Cardiovascular Center
The Cardiovascular Center and interventional cardiology program was the first in northeast Houston to offer an open-heart surgery and electrophysiology program. The comprehensive program is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and is comprised of vascular and cardiovascular surgery, pulmonary diagnostics and stress testing.
The Women & Children’s Center
The Women & Children’s Center offers comprehensive services from prenatal care through labor and delivery to postpartum care. Along with a Well-Baby Nursery, KMC has Level II and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units on-site for the tiniest patients. For moms requiring a higher level of care, they have a high-risk antepartum unit, designed for moms with “special” needs, both short and long term. Maternal fetal medicine specialists are available for high-risk moms to ensure the highest quality of care.
Obstetrical Emergency Department
The Obstetrical Emergency Department, located at the Women & Children’s Center at KMC houses an OB/GYN in-hospital 24/7. This physician evaluates women with obstetric and gynecologic issues, consults with the patient’s primary physician or OB/GYN, and is ready for any OB emergency that might arise.
Pediatric Emergency Department
The Pediatric Emergency Department at Kingwood Medical Center is the only pediatric emergency center in northeast Houston. Board certified physicians; along with a specialized nursing staff, and a child friendly center are waiting for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Breast Center
One in eight American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is often the best defense against this disease. That is why The Breast Center at Kingwood Medical Center recently expanded and renovated. This comprehensive breast center provides patients with advanced technology and expertise in breast imaging; including full field digital breast imaging, 3-D or tomosynthesis, bone density and ultrasound. When needed ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsies and genetic testing and counseling are available at the breast center.
Full-Service Emergency Department
In addition to the OB and Pediatric Emergency Departments, Kingwood Medical Center offers a full-service Emergency Department. With a medical emergency, minutes can make a difference – especially for victims of heart attack or stroke. Getting to the nearest emergency room quickly is vital. That is why KMC’s ERs are proud to provide high-quality emergency care close to home, right in your neighborhood. This facility provides the closest full-service care in northeast Houston. Last year, they provided care to 70,000 children and adult patients and is open 24/7, 365 days a year to provide immediate care. If you are having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1. Kingwood Medical Center 24-Hour Emergency Department at Fall Creek offers full-service emergency care for everything from chest pains to broken bones, back injury to minor burns and more. When there’s an emergency, every second counts, which is why KMC expanded its ER care into the communities they serve. This center brings state-of-the art ER services right in to neighborhood.
Inpatient Rehabilitation Center
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Kingwood Medical Center is a 27-bed unit, which provides a full range of therapies for patients who have suffered a stroke, injury, or who are recuperating from surgery. Since the Rehabilitation Program is located within the hospital, patients have 24/7 access to all hospital services, including nursing and physician care, telemetry, respiratory support, imaging, laboratory, dialysis, pharmacy, and nutrition. These professionals work in collaboration with each other to provide high quality, individualized care in a structured, supportive environment.
